ALTER BRIDGE Guitarist Says People Misconstrue New Single
August 10, 2007The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: ALTER BRIDGE recently issued "Rise Today" as the first single from its upcoming second album, titled "Blackbird", and it's one of many tracks on the CD that deal with heavy lyrical subject matter. But guitarist Mark Tremonti told The Pulse of Radio that some people have misconstrued the meaning of the song. "If you look on the Internet now, it's already getting kind of looked at the wrong way, where people think it's an anti-war song or whatnot," he said. "It's more of a, you know, let's check ourselves and see if we can do something better for any given situation, 'cause the world seems to be kind of getting to be a tough place, and people need to start changing a little bit or else we're gonna end up...who knows what's gonna happen with the world."
"Blackbird" is due for release on October 9 and will follow up the band's 2004 debut, "One Day Remains".
The album's title track is an eight-minute song that singer Myles Kennedy said was inspired by a friend who passed away as the tune was completed.
Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips were all previously in CREED, while Kennedy sang for the MAYFIELD FOUR.
ALTER BRIDGE will hit the road this fall after the arrival of the new album, with dates to be announced later.
